Journalists and broadcasters often have a wide range of subjects
to cover and not many have a theological, biblical or even a religious background. This can make their lives difficult when
stories, features or programmes about Christianity come their way.
Many Christians who work in the media often feel unsupported
in their faith, misunderstood by the Church and find themselves in a pressurised environment where it takes courage to take
a principled stand.
To help address these issues, in partnership with media organisations,
we are currently involved in several projects to equip journalists and broadcasters with the background information they need,
such as the development of a Bible Style Guide and a guide on demographic perceptions of Scripture. We are also providing
support for several networks that exist for Christians in the media - including training for fledgling journalists and broadcasters
- through the Churches Media Council and Artisan.
